About Us

Looking for a winery away from the well-worn path? Need to spend time in a laid-back and relaxing atmosphere? Hiddencroft could be your answer.

We’re tucked away among rolling farmland in Loudoun County wine country. We are an authentic Virginia Farm Winery: 97% of our red, white and rose wines are produced from our estate grown grapes. The other 3% are sourced from other Loudoun County vineyards. All wine is produced, cellared and bottled on our property.

We greet guests with an exceptional blend of fine wines, gracious hospitality and personable service. Our tagline says it all: “Rustic Charm & Regal Wine”…in a relaxing, rural setting.

The Wine

Our wines are approachable and readily drinkable. Our Reds see plenty of barrel time…between 22 and 42 months. Our white wines are complex and exhibit characteristics like fruit, flowers and spice. Our Rose wines are punch-like, refreshing and available in both dry and off-dry versions. Novelty wines such as Blueberry, Cherry, Pomegranate and Blackberry appear on our tasting menu as well. Port-Style wines are available and, at 18% alcohol, are quite warming.

1860’s Era Farmhouse has been used as the Tasting room at Hiddencroft Vineyards since September 2011.

The Property

In 2011, the we expanded operations to the adjacent property.  The tasting room, once housed in our production facility, is now a circa 1860’s farmhouse. The Compher Family, some of the original settlers of “The German Settlement” now known as Lovettsville, are believed to have built the house.  The farmhouse has two tasting counters with a view of the backyard and Dutchman’s Creek.  The upper floor of the farmhouse has seating in three rooms and for about 25.  A large deck seats 30 guests under a shade-sail, and has an open view of the vineyard.  Behind the deck, a large patio and massive fire-pit provide additional seating in Spring & Summer and warm ambiance in cooler weather.    Flower gardens surround the house and attract the eye with bright colors and a multitude of butterflies.  “The Butterfly Haven” at Hiddencroft Vineyards is a Registered Monarch Waystation.

Period Outbuildings

The three log outbuildings on the property were originally built in the 1845-1855 timeframe. One of these building was once used for meat curing. We excavated the original stone path behind the tasting house and it encircles another building that has an oversized stone chimney and fireplace and was used as an outdoor kitchen. From there, the path leads to a foot bridge over Dutchman’s Creek and turns into a rustic, log-line path that connects to the still function Spring House.

The Barn

The Bank Barn was constructed in 1929 with massive beams and sturdy floors and is resplendent in simplicity. There are sliding doors on the North and South sides which allow sunlight and fresh air when opened.  Light streams in between the batten strips and lends an ethereal look.  Large, rustic chandeliers provide a warm glow.  Expansive tasting counters, made simply from used burgundy barrels and fence boards, allow Hiddencroft to accommodate tastings for larger groups, with advance reservation.
